Harmonised knowledge exchange format FSKX at Predictive Modelling in Food conference, Japan

19 June 2023

From 13th to 16th June 2023, participants from all over the world gathered in Sapporo, Japan, at Hokkaido University to join the 12th Edition of the "International Conference of Predictive Modelling in Food" (ICPMF12).

During the conference, model creators and model users had the opportunity to learn how they could benefit from the Food Safety Knowledge eXchange (FSKX) format at a 3-hour workshop, themed “Exploiting the power of the harmonized knowledge exchange format FSKX”

The session was organised by Prof. Matthias Filter, Editor-in-Chief of the journal Food and Ecological Systems Modelling Journal (FESMJ) and senior research scientist at the Federal Institute for Risk Assessment (BfR), and his colleagues at RAKIP (Risk Assessment Modelling and Knowledge Integration Platforms) Initiative. The latter involved scientists from BfR, the French Agency for Food, Environmental and Occupational Health & Safety, Statens Serum Institut (Denmark) and University of Córdoba (Spain).

At the workshop, the attendees were introduced to the new format, and received the opportunity to play around online model repositories and create their own FSKX model files.

The FESMJ team also did a live demo of the journal to demonstrate how convenient and straightforward it is to import FSKX files and efficiently create model-related publications.

We are confident that the workshop was a great experience for all the participants and hope to see new FSKX model papers coming soon!

The authors are invited to submit all types of papers related to food and ecological systems modelling, including FSKX (Food Safety Knowledge) Models, mathematical models, datasets and software solutions. If accepted, their manuscripts will be published in FESMJ free of charge, thanks to the support of Pensoft.

RAKIP (Risk Assessment Modelling and Knowledge Integration Platforms) Initiative is a joint project initiated by three European institutions specialised in food safety risk assessment (ANSES, BfR and DTU Food) aimed to establish new community resources facilitating the efficient knowledge integration and exchange into and between IT-based applications and resources.
